Anywayz, planned a simple JB trip for A3's Weiming, Liling and Swan Lin.

On the night of 1st sept, they went over to my JB home to stay the night. Next morning, we had a scheduled flight to nowhere at 11am. The flight, which was the highlight of the trip, almost didn't take place, here's why.

As we were arriving at Senai Airport, it almost seemed like the dark clouds were trailing us from Mt Austin.

"Wah! Looks like we can't fly!" I said while driving.

"No lah! Cannot like that, must have the right ichinen!" said Liling form the back seat.

Once we arrived at the club house, we collected out aviation headsets and headed straight to our green Piper Warrior II.

Amazed at the sight of a light aircraft, Liling started taking pictures with Weiming and Swan Lin, while i conducted an external check of the plane. Everything seemed perfect, er...except the clouds.

"Ok, let's hope on in," i said while teaching them how to board the airplane.

"Welcome aboard Ah Lim airlines!" I added.

Once all were on board, bam, the rain just started pouring, and all we could do was huddle in the aircraft and snap more photographs.

As the rain fizzled out, we quickly rushed to the nearby hanger to take shelter while again, out of the blue, the rain started to hit hard!

Hungry people are angry people. This time, the rain gradually subsided. Seizing the opportunity, we once again made a move, a move to the nearby canteen for some makan.

Having filled up our stomachs, while the sky was still clear, rushing back to the aircraft became our top priority, and this time however, the weather permitted us to take off!

"Johor ground, good afternoon, this is niner mike tango alpha tango," i said over the radio while trying to establish contact with air traffic control.

"Good afternoon niner alpha tango, go ahead," came the reply.

"Niner alpha tango would like to request for start-up to operate south of Gunung Pulai at 1500ft, i have 4 POB and 2 hours of endurance," i requested.

"Start approved, QNH one zero zero niner."

Yes! We could fly to the south of Mouth Pulai! The view there, in my own opinion, is awesome!

I think a picture speaks a thousand words, and so...hehe...i shall wait till i get the chance to obtain the pictures from Liling and post them here!

Hello dear readers! Remember to catch "Singapore Dreaming" on Arts Central tomorrow, 31st August, at 10pm!!

I'm in it, and i'm really excited to be on national TV, albeit for only a few seconds! Wait, hang on, was i also captured on TV during our NDP performance??? Hmmm...

Anywayz, I was supposed to act as a nerd who "proposes" to the lead actress's character, but ended up getting rejected. Did quite abit of filming for my character. In the end however, the director decided to edit the script.

I ended up becoming a calefare instead, haha...

It was an awesome experience though. Learnt a fair bit! Thanks again Colin for giving me this wonderful experience!

I appeared in 2 scenes for a few seconds each, both were office scenes.

The movie, as a whole, is also very meaningful, very Singaporean. I strongly urge all of you to watch it tomorrow!

That was my 3rd involvement in a major local film. The first was "Talkingcock the Movie," and the second was "15 the Movie."

Was also involved in various other short film projects made by Ngee Poly FSV students, and Spanish exchange students from the University of Catalonia.

I still cherish this dream of becoming a film maker someday though. This has got to take a backseat for the time being as other more important priorities come first.

But hey, no matter how much life "spins" you around, always flash a big smile and move on. Cherish all your friends, especially your zenchishikis, and smile together with them! For sometimes when you are "spinning," they will "spin" together with you, and when you're "spinning outta control," they will stop you from "spinning into wasteland!" I'm truly blessed to have such awesome friends within and without SGI!

So come on everybody, smile together!

The CFG is a platform to forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones.

To quote our mentor in life, Ikeda Sensei, "In Japan, the mountain potatoes known as taros are rough and dirty when harvested, but when they are placed in a basin of running water together and rolled against each other, the skin peels away, leaving the potatoes shining clean and ready for cooking. Similarly, the only way for us to hone and polish our character is through our interactions with others."

Helped out in Toa Payoh Central's CFG earlier at the behest of my buddy. They had the honour of firing the first salvo, and they did a mighty good job! Am totally bowled over by their efforts, spirit and sincerity!

Waking up on the wrong side of bed...

It was a lonely night. The weather was cold, and my room was stuffy.

Why am i still thinking about this person? What shall i do tomorrow? Thoughts like that were zooming in and out of my mind like bullet trains plowing through the east-west line.

Lying on my tatami mat, i slowly fell asleep, not knowing that i have been sucked into the twilight zone.

The next day, well 3 days later actually, when i awoke, i couldn't recognise the area around me.

"Where am i?" i thought.

Yup, it was an alien place alright. I woke up to an Earthrise on the surface of the moon!

"Woah! It was like taking the Shinkansen to the surface of the moon!" I exclaimed.

Well naturally, since i was already on the moon, i bought a property and settled down there.

It was just a normal 1 room moonshack with the most basic of amenities. It even comes complete with books on bookshelves that face the toilet, plus a complimentary moon clock. Great value for money!

As i was going to freshen myself up, my face felt weird. I didn't feel like myself. Even my mojo felt funny!

"Whatever man, just go brush your teeth," i said to myself.

When i looked into the mirror, holy crapamony! I've turned into a Martian! This is crazy!

Hello A3...NDP A3...neh neh neh!

In fact...hello everybody!

The PNDPC was...well...ok. How many of you didn't attend?? Haha, but one attendee was damn gan cheong to leave the kaikan...

You can tell from his face that he is not enjoying the meeting and is most eager to siam! Muahaha!

It was raining for almost the whole day on the 23rd! Was worried that my BBQ event would be a flop!

Turned out all was fine! It was still drizzling in the evening, but the event went on as usual, and almost half of A3 turned up! I'm so touched! Even with the rain, all of you still came for my PNDP-BBQ! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Mitsuo-chan and Hiro-san attended too. But they had to leave mid way for a Japanese festival at Changi. Mitsuo-chan's onigiri was a big hit! Basically, it's barbecued Japanese rice ball with soy sauce. Oishii!!!

Towards the end of the BBQ, around 10.30pm, most of the people had to make a move. The rain got heavier too, and so the remaining A3ians helped to pack up and headed to my home. Before that of course, we had some photo taking done at the Clubhouse. Jason also gave a speech. Too bad i don't have the pics to post here :-(

After that, Mitsuo-chan and Hiro-san came back to my place, just before fellow A3ians left.

The 3 of us chilled out, while listening to Everly Brothers on my record player. Then Hiro-san received a call. It was Yoko-nee san, and she said she's at Woodlands MRT station, and would like to join in our chill out session! Yoko-nee san wasn't able to attend the PNDPC and the BBQ. I was so happy that she could come chill out with us! So, Hiro-san and Mitsuo-chan went to pick her up, and at the same time purchased more drinks.

In the meantime however, while i was waiting for them, Weixiang called up. He was also on his way to my home. Awesome! He brought his brother, Weifeng, along too! How cool is that? Another mini party in the works!

It was the ultimate chill out session@Woodgrove.

We chatted about the NDP times. How we got involved and stuff like that. We also talked about anything under the sun! I brought out some old photographs for everyone's viewing pleasure too!

And then, we had more fun with my Macbook! Absolutely no regrets buying this wonderful laptop!!!

As you can tell from the clock in the pic, it's nearly 3am, well into the wee hours of the morning! Actually, my clock is about 10 mins faster than ordinary clocks.

Anyway, we chilled-out until it was like 4am.

After sending them off, i just collapsed on the floor with a smiling face.

Ah well, A3 might have another event planned soon. Looking forward to it! Let's do it all over again peeps!

Hello!!!

16th August was quite an eventful day.

There's a new Soka U exchange student in town, his name is Kazuyuki. First met him after the NDP preview. Don't have photos of him though, if not you could see how yandao he is! :-(

Anyway, on the 16th, i had to do a flight with an instructor as i have not flown for the last 3 months. The club rule dictates that if one doesn't operate an aircraft for more than 1.5 months, an instructor has to conduct a check flight on one first before one could fly solo again. So, seizing this opportunity to get to know Kazuyuki-san better, i asked him along for the flight.

It was a pity that he didn't bring along a camera, and his mobile phone battery was flat! The snapshots below were hence taken by him using my handphone.

It was a fine day, clear blue skies and awesome weather! We flew around Mt Pulai and to the coast via small towns like Pekan Nanas and Kulai, while maintaining a height of 2,000ft. This is the first time Kazuyuki-san has travelled in a light aircraft.

We had to cut short our flight, as SIA's Boeing 777 was also doing some flight training at Senai Airport.

After that, back in Singapore, had dinner with Hiro-san and friends.

Then it was off to the airport to send Yamada-nii san off! You might remember that during one of the NDP rehearsals, i brought 2 Japanese friends along for the bus ride to Suntec City? Yup! Yamada-nii san was one of them. He's now posted back to Japan. Sigh, really gonna miss him :-(

Later, from the airport, after sending Yoko-nee san back home, Yousuke-san and Mitsuo-chan came over to my place to film this for my zadankai on Sunday. By the way, how was your zadankai?

As the emcee for my district's zadankai, i opened the meeting with that video while hiding somewhere. Then, i appeared with a bang, wearing our NDP costume, to the tune of our Soka Flagger music. Instead of singing a song, i got everyone to do our dance steps! From jogging on the spot to 'valiant,' right up to 'hip hop!' Since this year's SSA NDP was a youth affair, the 4 divisions in my district got a taste of this year's NDP, and they certainly enjoyed it!

Time flies...

On the Sunday after 090808, i met 2 Japanese members. They were here on holiday, and they work as elementary school teachers back home in Japan. At Chijmes, they expressed interest to visit Soka Kindergarten. Being the kaypoh that i am, i of course volunteered my services!

The next day, i ended up taken them to all the kaikan's in Singapore outta my own free will.

Welcome to the "On to a tad bit more serious stuff....." post.

For a a more in-depth "analysis," please refer to my previous post, the one just preceding this one, i.e, the one below. Wakaru?

My cute Japanese friend Take-san (think i also want to adopt him as my "younger brother" leh!) joined our friends and i for the karaoke the night before the actual day as well. Poorthing, he had some stomach illness for the last 3 weeks since he got back from Cambodia. Just when everything seemed fine, the stomach attacks started to hit him hard and strong on karaoke night! But the kid had so much will power, we didn't notice any serious signs of his sickness.

On August 9th itself, he didn't arrive at TBSC at the stipulated 2pm. Mi-chan and I felt something was amiss.

Mi-chan then phoned him, "Hi Take-san, are you reaching soon?"

"I'm still at home, i kept puking this morning," replied Take-san in a really weak tone of voice.

"Heh! Are you feeling better now?" Asked a concerned Mi-chan.

"Oh no! San shoshima has attacked!" I exclaimed. "I'm having this terrible sore throat from last night's karaoke too!"

Nee-san was also concerned, but nonetheless, Take-san still made it to TBSC, and he managed set off to the holding area together with the rest of his group!

"Take-chan! Gambatte! I'm sure after the NDP your illness will disappear!" I said to him at Suntec City just before i snapped that picture, with much conviction.

I've personally fought an eye infection during the actual day of my first NDP in 1995. The infection got worse just before my scene, and then miraculously dried itself out right after i exited from the scene.

"Supplies!"

Sorry if i didn't manage to capture all of you on my camera phone! However, there was one among you peeps, whom i've taken a pic with once before, that i wanted to take a pic with again. Alas, i didn't have the guts to do it. "W* B*h G*n!"

I honestly felt the morale, spirit and execution of the actual day's performance was not as superb and wonderful as that of the preview! Why ah? Hmmm....

Ah well, over liao!

Just before we left Suntec City for the...er...thing that floats, i took a pic with...

Wah seh! It was drizzling sia, and the normally crazy Jerry started to get serious and chanted out loud! I too joined him, albeit for a short while only.

We laughed and cried on the concrete way, all the way to Marina Bay. Then Black Knights appeared with all of their might, everyone's sight focused on that height! It wasn't that high, yet their turns were so tight! Amazing timing, that got us all shouting! By that time, the drizzle has fizzled, yet we weren't all that puzzled.

"Daimoku works!" I shouted till it hurts! That's actual proof, and it's fool proof!

While waiting for our turn to perform, i took a nap. Shiok sia!

I don't know her name leh! But as you can see, i'm not gay! Just "gay=happy!" I don't always take pics with guys only lor....

Er....with the that green colour thing, camera angle and sheer size, don't i look abit like the "Incredible Hulk" from the 80s?

Nee-san started to cry after everything was over. At first we pakat pakat to dance together one, then when i saw her crying, i just walked away. She felt sad that it's all over as it's her first NDP. You see, i don't know how to react when i see people cry. I don't know how to offer words of comfort, or for that matter, offer comfort to the "cryer." Don't know whether it's a guy thing or not, but anyway, i also felt like crying at the point in time :-(

Ah well, good thing nee-san got over her tears of nostalgia, and then A3 formed a circle, and we danced our hearts out. All was well until JJ joined in the fun. Grr...but ok lah, at least he danced together.

Eh, what do you guys think of my dancing ah? Can make it or not, or do i look like a fool? Tell me leh...

And as they say, all good things must come to an end. We all made our way back to Suntec City.

Sigh...the magic, pomp and pageantry is all over. It's back to reality, no time for "love."

But whatever it is, "We are Singapore!"

Well, not necessarily Singaporeans.

As you can see from Take-san's smiling face, his illness somehow vanished, and i think he went out with his group for makan after that!

Feeling the post NDP blues while letting my hair loose.

Well what can i say? That day was so grey, it then turned okay, and all were so gay!!!

Hooo!!!

The testing of the stage equipment on the Wednesday before the actual day went on smoothly. Even the trainers, who were performing for us, had to stop their performance mid-way just so that the sound and lighting team could do some awesome dry runs!

Jialat man, on the eve of national day, went out karaoke-ing with some Japanese friends. Until now still got no voice sia! My A3 "nee-san" also went along! We sang until like 4am!! Guess what? Mi-chan (the guy in green) finally did some karaoke singing after like milleniums of prodding! Even though he sounded like a crook, he most certainly looked good!

Mi-chan, my "henna" Japanese friend who loves durians and natto, but hates karaoke. Way to go! Gambatte!

it was evident for all to see that this years ndp was very very boring until our item! lol

Damn solid, today's last training....fui seh! Sweat alot sia! On track on losing some weight! But the "Or Luak" that i consumed at the Makan Sutra place, coupled with the tasty "Hokkien Mee," sigh...think i put everything back in already. But neh-mind....with determination, sure can lose weight one.

Can't believe 090808 is coming sia! This one and a half months participating in NDP08 was really quite fruitful for me. Got me back in touch with the youth division.

Forget about the tussle between a certain someone and someone in the local blogersphere. The corporation and "gayness" of J & L far supersedes them! This is value creation! Welcome to "Kachi sozo!"

What do you get when you put a bunch of really cool people in weird costumes, make them hold 2 coloured flags, and dance to funny music? You get the "Soka Faggots!" Er...no, i mean "Soka Flaggers!" The former term was what i thought i heard shouted in unison from the Byakuren and Young Lions when they were sending us off to the floating platform! Sigh, I sometimes tend to hear different things when too many people shout together. Anyway, kudos to the Byakuren and Young Lions for doing a superb job!

Before yesterday's preview, we had a really wonderful training at Marina Bay. However, i could not help but notice this...

It distracted me from the actual practice that was taking place.

"Woah! Feels like i'm in Macao sia!" I exclaimed.

"It's Maybank somemore! Why, trying to compete with the upcoming casino, no, IR opposite is it?" I continued.

"No lah, it's meant to attract future gamblers to borrow money from them once they start to lose money lor!" Commented a YWD participant.

Whatever it is, for now, don't you think the building makes a nice backdrop for the coming NDP? Just look at how the soprano's voice synchronies with the lighting display! Creativity, Singapore style, with a dash of Malaysian flavour.

A3 preview

So how did you guys feel about the preview?

Well, all i can say is, i made a mistake!!! ARghh!! Lucky it's not actual day sia, if not malu. Dunno got camera capture me anot.

Took some pictures also, but i not very photogenic lah, so i take only very few photos...

And here's my "A-ne!" It means "elder brother" in Tamil. Many people think it's an offensive word, but it's not. The best thing was that i've known him for a few years, and it was only yesterday that i know his name!

Aiyah, the J is taking a break. Good good. Got more space to do my own thing.

* Dedicated to Mitsuo-san (Mi-chan) Yousuke-san (You-chan), Kazuhiro san and Sayuka san.

What a day. It was quite gay actually, having spent more than 24hrs with Mi-chan! The night before, on the 28th of July, we were in JB with Yayoi-san. She needed to leave Singapore due to some visa issues.

Let's cut a long story short shall we? Before heading back to Singapore the next day, Mi-chan wanted to buy some durians, however, we ended up buying durians and mangosteens, the king and queen of fruits! Now my car reeks of durians, arghh! But nice perfume for the car though.

Anyway, having done that, we crossed the border, and i sent Yayoi san home first. Mi-chan was late for the SSA Student Peace lecture @ SMU, while i decided to tag along at the last minute. We went to his place so that he could have a change of clothes.

Very seldom, at least for me, you see Japanese people enjoying durians! At his place, we had some of the Malaysian durian, and kept the rest for later that night.

"Where're my shoes!" exclaimed Mi-chan, as we stepped out of the apartment after consuming the durians.

"It's most probably stolen," i said.

"Takke san's shoes were stolen here as well," said Mi-chan as he scurried about the house looking for his shoes in disbelief.

"There must be a 'dai-fan' stalking you guys," i concluded once Mi-chan gave up the search and started wearing his posh looking leather shoes instead.

"Do they match my outfit?" He asked.

"Yeah, but they definitely don't match the ankle socks. You'll expose too much of your leg hairs!" I replied.

"Anyway, we're late. Let's hurry up!" And off we went to SMU.

Come to think of it, it was the first time i've seen Mi-chan wearing a long sleeve shirt! Way to go Mi-chan!

The lecturer, prof. Radhakrishnan, was a very inspiring person. From the bottom of my heart, i could totally sense his drive and passion for non-violence. However, during the initial part of his lecture, i couldn't help but notice his very interesting accent! I was busy controlling my laughter!

Sitting beside me were Mi-chan and You-chan. Listening very 'intently' to the lecture was You-chan as shown in the picture below snapped by Mi-chan...

Apart from listening, he tried to digest what the prof was saying by 'meditating.'

Guess what, You-chan loves durians too! So later on, during dinner with other Soka University exchange students, Mi-chan and i formed a durian club called 'Durian-kra.' We would hereby like to invite potential members to submit your application!

To become a full-fledged member, you must fulfill the following criteria:

1) Have eaten a durian before. Love it's smell, aroma and taste, and must not say that they smell like 'garbage.'

2) Pick durians at one of the many forests in Singapore, excluding durian plantations in Malaysia, during the durian season.

So, only 2 pre-requisites are needed! If you complete only one of the following, you'll be admitted into the club as a 'half-member.' It's really that simple, so come and join, sign up today! Don't shy leh...

@ Kazuhiro san's apartment

Mi-chan actually rents a room from Kazuhiro san, so the apartment really belongs to Kazuhiro san.

After dinner, You-chan, Mi-chan and i decided to head back to Mi-chan's place to enjoy durians, beer and mangosteens. We heard that eating durians and drinking alcohol at the same time could lead to death. But what the hell, we didn't care, at least we'll die happy!

It was indeed an enjoyable evening. We laughed till, well, the cows almost came home. We had to keep our volume to a minimum though, as the landlord was fast asleep.

While gulping down my favourite Elephant beer, suddenly, there was a creaking sound at the door. I choked on my beer. Was it really the cows? Oh, It was Sayuka-san. She just arrived home from a wonderful karaoke session with her friends.

"Do you smell garbage?" I asked her. Sayuka-san once commented that durians smelt like garbage, and it really broke my heart.

"Nope," she replied, "i don't smell......AHH!!" She screamed, when she realised what i was talking about.

"Shhhhh!!" the 3 of us went.

"No you didn't!" She said as she entered the house while pinching her nose.

We invited her to join us anyway, and while she totally detested durians, we encouraged her to try the mangosteens. She didn't say much about the taste of mangosteens except that it was sweet.

"Whew!" i remarked. "Good thing you could make friends with the queen of fruits!" i said to much fanfare.

Once Sayuka-san retired to her bedroom, the 3 of us continued our ranting, jokes and laughter. We also decided to have a few more beers.

I've never laughed so hard in my entire life before! I even broke into a sweat from all the laughing! Good exercise i must say. Great for building abs.

The jokes were just constantly flowing non-stop. We even found You-chan a friend who looks alot like him, albeit when their eyes are closed.

Ah well, all good things must come to an end. It was already 2am, and i was drenched in sweat. You-chan and I had to go home.

You-chan excused himself and went to the loo, while i was laying on the floor, stoning and at the same time, trying to catch my breath.

Then something on the sofa caught my eye. It looked weird. I thought it was the devil! It looked like it had 2 heads! Upon closer inspection, it was Mi-chan. He was also stoning, and dozing off. Poor thing. Having spent more than 24hrs with me is no mean feat. He must be dead tired, that's why he's falling asleep.

Or is it? Hang on, is he trying to bond with You-chan's friend as well??

"Ok let's go," said You-chan,

"Oyasumi Mi-chan!" I said as You-chan and I exited the apartment.

"See you at Marina Bay tomorrow!" replied Mi-chan.

Yup, Mi-chan and I are also NDP participants. You guys can catch him tonight at Marina Bay and ask for his autograph!

Oh what a night!

Haha...u're trying to ask how to force yourself to 'burp' or 'puke' is it?

A super zai parang, in the hands of a coward also becomes a super lousy parang.

Trying to open a durian with a parang is also not a good idea...in fact...it's stupid!

So...if you want to open a durian, open it with a short and hard knife. Crack open it's butt first, but before u do that, u must find the 'line' of the durian. That way, when u crack open in the right direction, u can easily rip open the durian.

wah today was ne show one. quite a good show. i think this year we quite zai sia. first ne show only already relax and in a zen state. pro sia. but cannot be complacent ah. when complacent. sanshoshima willattack like nobody business. and that can really be as irritating as weixian showing off his dance moves in front of the master himself-JJ. LOL

gahmen this year very rich. fireworks really free one. hope they dun run out of it by actual day haha. the costume is really crap. its a fusion concept of surgeon and soldier plus a bit of ninja turtle. guys all have to 'dai lu mao' :( by the time we get the boots, the fusion concept will include construction worker also.

speaking of fusion, we the cocksters from block A, tend to fuse our dance steps and flag movements with michael jackson lame moves and even beegees saturday night fever! woah.. if u see us in action, ull be mesmerised and fall head over heels for us woo! haha.. okok starting to say nonsensical stuff. just pay us 10 dollar and we'll entertain u with our fusion flagging actions and hot dance moves. yay!
